You are warmly welcome to join us at the Imagination Club on Wednesday, 11 March 2015 at 18h45 for an interactive, experimental workshop on: Embracing Diversity and Addressing Discrimination in the WorkplaceBy Ruth FriedmanEver had challenges in the work place, working with people who are in some way different to you – perhaps they have a different ethnic group, religion, nationality, culture, age or gender? Ever experienced discomfort or discrimination because of who you are and not because of what you did, or saw it happen to someone else? Ever had to work alongside people who don’t get along because of some kind of animosity between people from different groups? If you answer ‘Yes’ to any of these questions, you might be glad to know that, in fact, it's human nature to prefer to get along with people we think are ‘like us’. Research suggests that multi-ethnic, multi-cultural teams tend to either perform very well or very badly, its definitely very different from that of a mono-cultural team. During this workshop we will look at some research, explore some theory and do some practical activities to help you create a more positive work environment, no matter your role in your organisation. Come along to the workshop to find out more! About Ruth FriedmanRuth is a trainer, consultant and coach. She has been working in the field of cultural diversity and non-discrimination since 2005. She has developed non-discrimination training programs for the OSCE, which she has presented internationally. As well as developing this work further, Ruth provides cross-cultural training in corporate contexts. Ruth is from the UK and has lived in Belgium since 2004.
